In 1998, Prime Properties acquired the Palace Theatre on 698 Sainte Catherine Street West in downtown Montreal. The 1921 building was a perfect opportunity to fuse the classic with the modern. Part of the deal was 733 Cathcart, linked to the Palace by an underground tunnel which connects the famous Place Ville Marie and Eaton Centre, cornerstones of Montreal’s downtown business and commercial scene. The Cathcart address had been through numerous tenants and required a different approach. The theatre’s original facade was restored and the interior redone for retail.The restoration project took care to preserve the original look of the building.
